Violence in Mexico has left Canadian travelers sheltering in place. Canada's foreign affairs minister said government officials are in close contact with local authorities in the state of Jalisco, which includes the popular resort city of Puerto Vallarta. Unrest erupted after an army raid, killed a cartel leader, prompted roadblocks, car fires and shootouts. Airlines have canceled or diverted dozens of flights. Canadian airports, meanwhile, warning travelers heading to the U.S. allow extra time to get through customs. Nexus and Global Entry pre-clearance programs are suspended because of an apparent congressional stalemate on legislation to fund the Department of Homeland Security.

OPP in southern Ontario say 50 people were on board, but luckily no fatalities after a coach bus left the 401 and ended up on its side in a ditch west of Napanee. Police were called last night at about 7.15.

Hot country sports. A whole lot of frustration could be felt across the country as Canada's men's hockey team lost the gold medal game yesterday at the Olympics, 2-1 in overtime to the U.S. They take home silver. Canada's men's curling team took home the gold while the women won bronze. The Olympics wrapped up yesterday with Canada finishing 8th in the medal standings with 21 medals, including five gold. It's the first time since 94 Canada's placed outside the top five. Norway led the country 41 medals, followed by the U.S. and Italy. In the NBA, the Raptors beat Milwaukee 1 22-94. They host Oklahoma City tomorrow 730. In the OHL, Branford lost to Peterborough in overtime 4-3. And baseball spring training got underway this weekend. Blue Jays won their first preseason game to the Phillies, but lost to the Red Sox yesterday 11-10. They face the Mets this afternoon at 1.
