A 39-year-old woman facing charges in the death of a newborn baby over 20 years ago. Brantford police say the baby boy was found on a walking trail in 2005, and investigators were able to recently use new DNA technology to identify the baby's mother. She is facing charges of indignity to a body and concealing the body of a child. A Lindsay man accused of assaulting a home intruder last August had his charges withdrawn. Crown said after reviewing the circumstances of the case, There's no longer a reasonable prospect of conviction as part of requirements for self-defense under the criminal code, leading some critics to argue, how did this case even make it to the courts in the 1st place? Premier Ford spoke out after the case was dropped, said people who break into somebody else's home need to pay the price, adding people will fight for their lives to protect their families and their homes. StatsCan set a report this morning on how the economy closed out in 2025. A Reuters poll of economists expect real GDP was flat. And a new report said Rogers and Telus have Canada's most reliable mobile networks, but Bell wins for speed. Open Signal's annual ranking found Rogers and Telus were tied with how often users can accomplish common tasks, while Bell had the best 5G downloads of the major carriers, tied with Telus for top overall download speed. The report collected data from October to December, grading the big three providers only. Sports NHL last night. Leafs lost another one, this time 5-1 to Florida. The Habs lost to the Islanders 4-3 in overtime. Ottawa lost to Detroit 2-1. Leafs host Ottawa tomorrow at 7. Baseball spring training. Blue Jays lost to Miami 8-7. Jays play Tampa Bay this afternoon at 1. PWHL tonight. Toronto is in Seattle at 10. In the OHL tonight, Kitchener hosts Brampton, Brantford hosts Sashawa, while Guelph hosts Niagara. All games are at 7. Tomorrow in the NBA, the Raptors will be in Washington. And also tomorrow, the Toronto Rock will take on the Buffalo Bandits at TD Coliseum. It's a big rivalry.
